Triennial Exhibition of Visual Arts in Rome (25 March - 22 April 2017) Gianni Dunil

Triennial Exhibiton of Visual Arts in Rome

A multifaceted and cosmopolitan personality, Marco Salvatore Mallamaci has lived in various countries around the world, coming into contact with eterogeneous cultures and traditions, a factor that has allowed him to significantly broaden his cultural and artistic background.

An official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he is also a passionate art collector, an activity that allows him to excercise his aesthetic taste.

Graduated in Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Windsor in Canada, Mallamaci began his artistic career in the 1980's, after moving to Belgium and following his meeting with with the painter and teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome Eugenio Barra.

Following a period of experimentation, Mallamaci identified oil on canvas as the ideal means to express his creativity, starting to paint figurative paintings.

At the end of the nineties, he moved to Beijing, participating in important artistic exhibitions and becoming one of the most appriciated Italian masters.

The work "The Yalta circus-ference" shows some of the participants (Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin) at the conference held during the world war, while the figure of Hitler is replaced by that of Charlie Chaplin.

Using pink tones and placing famous faces on female bodies, the artist evokes an important historical moment with irony and mastery, adapting it in a humorous way.
