Author's comment: 

The Catholic Church has the following hierarchical structure: priests, bishops and cardinals (all of them men, as at the time of Christ), headed by the Pope.

The Church of England (which separated from the Roman Catholic Church in 1534) has kept a similar hierarchy with priests, bishops and cardinals (belonging to any sex) headed by the King or the Queen who act as Pope or Popess.
