The 21st Century Silk Road

Painted in: Hong Kong (China)

Author's comment:

Many centuries ago, to know new people, discover new goods and new cultures in the far east, Europeans had to take long and uncomfortable journeys which generally lasted months, if not years.

Nowadays, technology enables people, in just a few seconds, to gather extensive and precise information about a country, as well as to examine goods, compare quality and costs, buy them and receive them even by the following day.

The 21st Century Silk Road portrays a map of  an ancient route to China: the map is depicted as an eye, the pupil being represented by Google: this company, in fact, with one of his programs can observe and register the smallest spot of the universe and every movement of a human being.

Companies such as Alibaba, Baidu  and Google (Alibaidugle), moreover, allow people to find and buy anything in the world, while media (press, telephone, radio, TV, internet, etc.) put you in connection with people around the universe and bring in every home the latest news about the farthest and most secluded lands of the solar system.
